James Ford, convicted of murdering Greg and Kimberly Malnory during a fishing trip in 1997, is scheduled for execution on February 13 at Florida State Prison. Governor Ron DeSantis signed the death warrant on Friday, marking Florida’s first execution of 2025.

The Malnorys were found at South Florida Sod Farm in Charlotte County, having been bludgeoned and shot. Kimberly had also been raped, and their 22-month-old baby was left near the crime scene for over 18 hours, exposed to the elements.

Ford was convicted of murder, sexual battery, and child abuse. His execution follows a decline in Florida’s executions, with only one in 2024 compared to six in 2023, during DeSantis’ presidential campaign.
