A popular TikTok influencer known as Girlalala was found shot multiple times inside a car in Lauderdale Lakes on Friday evening, following what authorities say was a heated argument with her boyfriend earlier that day.

Police identified the victim as Maurice Harrison, a 21-year-old transgender woman, hairstylist, and social media personality from Pompano Beach with more than 235,000 followers on TikTok and tens of thousands more on Instagram. Advocacy groups note that a transgender person’s chosen name should be respected and used.

The shooting occurred around 7 p.m. near the 3300 block of Northwest 37th Street. According to Broward Sheriff’s Office arrest documents, Harrison’s boyfriend, Shanoyd Whyte Jr., 25, called 911 and flagged down deputies outside a nearby home.

Officers were led to a beige Chevrolet Malibu, where they found Harrison in the passenger seat, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Blood had soaked the seat and pooled on the floorboard, deputies said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Whyte told detectives that the couple had frequent arguments and had fought several times that day. He claimed the final argument escalated after Harrison pulled his hair but declined to explain how the gun inside the vehicle was used.

Surveillance video reviewed by investigators appears to show Whyte exiting the vehicle with what looks like a firearm, while Harrison leans out of the passenger door. He is later seen placing her back inside the car, pacing nearby, and then calling 911.

Following Harrison’s death, fans and social media users resurfaced older videos in which she referenced ongoing conflicts in the relationship. In one clip, she appeared with facial injuries and stated that they “always fight.”

Whyte has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder. He remains in custody as the investigation continues.
