Tyler Kingsley Manyou, 23, of Pembroke Pines, was arrested on Tuesday for the second-degree murder of 13-year-old Johvon Taylor in Florida City. The shooting occurred on January 4, with Taylor found shot in the abdomen in the 1300 block of Northwest 6th Avenue. He was airlifted to Jackson South Medical Center, where he later died.
Investigators linked Manyou to the shooting by tracking the suspects’ car. The motive remains unclear, and it is believed Taylor was not the intended target. Another individual was injured in the incident but survived.
Manyou appeared in court on Wednesday and was held without bond. Authorities continue to search for additional suspects.
Taylor, known as “Woodah,” was a student at Homestead Middle School with a passion for football, music, dancing, and dirt bikes. His funeral was held on Saturday, where friends and family remembered him fondly.
Taylor’s family expressed relief at the arrest but hope for the capture of all involved. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
