Much-Needed Rainfall Expected Across South Florida and the Keys

South Florida and the Keys are set to receive much-needed rainfall on Monday as a strong low-pressure system moves across the region.

This system brings the most widespread rain the area has seen all month, offering relief from moderate drought conditions. Rainfall deficits for 2025 have climbed 2 to 4 inches, making this precipitation crucial.

While Sunday remains mostly dry, rain chances will increase after sunrise, with scattered showers possible during the morning commute. The heaviest rain is expected from late morning through early afternoon before tapering off by evening. While the forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies with passing showers, a few thunderstorms may develop. There is a minimal chance of an isolated severe storm in the early afternoon.

The current forecast predicts 1 to 3 inches of rainfall across the NBC6 viewing area through Tuesday, though localized tropical downpours could push totals up to 4 inches. Heavy rainfall may lead to minor flooding, especially in urban areas.

Rain chances will persist into Tuesday before drier, seasonable conditions settle in for the rest of the workweek.
