Five people were hospitalized early Sunday after a shooting erupted in a busy nightlife area of downtown Fort Lauderdale, authorities said.

The gunfire was reported around 2 a.m. near the 300 block of Southwest 2nd Street, a popular corridor lined with late-night bars and clubs. Fort Lauderdale Police officers responding to the scene found multiple adult victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

Police immediately secured the area while officers and first responders administered first aid. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue transported all five victims to nearby hospitals. Authorities have not released the victims’ identities or details about their medical conditions.

Investigators said no suspect information was immediately available. However, police emphasized that they believe the shooting was an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Detectives continue to investigate what led to the shooting, including whether it stemmed from an altercation earlier in the night. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Fort Lauderdale Police or Broward County Crime Stoppers.
