Miami Teacher Arrested in Child Sex Sting Operation

A Miami rabbi and teacher was arrested Friday in Delray Beach after authorities say he attempted to meet who he believed was a 14-year-old for sex.

Rabbi Levi Cash, 64, was charged with traveling to meet a minor for an unlawful sex act and using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony. According to Delray Beach Police, the arrest followed a sting operation initiated by a social media watchdog group that poses as minors to catch suspected predators.

Investigators said Cash arranged to meet at a Target store on Linton Boulevard after sending explicit messages through Grindr and text. In the conversations, Cash allegedly identified himself as a teacher and suggested they meet during his tutoring breaks. He also discussed bringing condoms and lubricant.

When officers confronted him at the store, Cash admitted, “you’ve got me dead to rights,” according to the arrest report. He later claimed he initially believed he was speaking to a 19-year-old before being told the person was 14.

Cash was booked into Palm Beach County’s main detention center on a $60,000 bond. Authorities say the case highlights the dangers of online grooming and the ongoing role of citizen-led watchdog groups in exposing potential predators.
