Powerball Jackpot Climbs to $815 Million

The Powerball jackpot has soared to $815 million after no one hit the grand prize in Monday’s drawing. It’s now the seventh largest jackpot in Powerball history.

Monday’s numbers — 16, 19, 34, 37, 64 and Powerball 22 — produced two $1 million winners in Georgia and Texas.

If won, the jackpot pays $815 million in 30 yearly installments, though most winners take the lump sum, estimated at $367.9 million before taxes. Federal taxes cut 24% immediately, with more owed at filing. State taxes may also apply, except in eight states, including Florida and Texas, that exempt lottery winnings.

The next drawing is Wednesday, Aug. 27. No one has hit the jackpot since May 31, a streak of 38 drawings.

Despite long odds of 1 in 292.2 million, Powerball continues to draw players across 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
