A man was killed early Saturday morning in a three-vehicle crash on I-95 in Pompano Beach, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred just before 2 a.m. in the southbound lanes near Cypress Creek Road. Authorities say a black Tesla Model Y, driven by a 27-year-old Miami man, rear-ended a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van. The impact caused the van to collide with a Cadillac ATS and overturn, ejecting the van’s driver.
The van driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released pending family notification.
The Tesla came to a stop facing south in the express lane dividers, and the Cadillac ended up on the grassy shoulder. Neither of those drivers were injured.
FHP said the Tesla driver “did not take driver action to avoid” the crash. It’s unclear whether charges will be filed as the investigation continues.
