The University of Miami has dismissed Dr. Michelle Bravo, a neurologist at its Miller School of Medicine, after she posted inflammatory remarks on social media regarding the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
According to the Miami Hurricane, Bravo wrote on X that Kirk’s death was “chickens coming home to roost,” comparing it to alleged harm inflicted on Palestinians and accusing Kirk of celebrating such violence. Her comments drew immediate outrage.
UM released a statement distancing itself from Bravo, stressing that her remarks were unacceptable and did not reflect the institution’s values.
The incident underscores the sharp divide on campuses over free speech, political violence, and accountability. Bravo’s firing signals that the university is unwilling to tolerate rhetoric seen as justifying or celebrating murder.
