Think Miami is Florida’s ultimate chill zone? A new study says otherwise. According to research by Sell My Timeshare Now, Tampa ranks as the most relaxing city in the U.S., edging out even South Florida’s famed tourist spots.

The study measured factors like daylight hours, temperature, crime rates, and walkability to find the best places to unwind. Tampa came out on top thanks to its mild average temperature (70°F), low crime rate, and nearly 10.5 hours of daily sunshine.

Though Tampa loses 34 hours annually to traffic congestion, its moderate walkability score (50/100) helps offset that stress.

Miami, meanwhile, ranked No. 4. It boasts the most daylight hours of any city studied—10 hours and 46 minutes—and warm, beach-friendly temps. But traffic remains a major problem: Miamians lose a whopping 74 hours a year to congestion, more than double Tampa’s total.

Rounding out the top five were New Orleans (No. 2), San Francisco (No. 3), and San Diego (No. 5). Notably, San Diego had the lowest crime rate among all 50 cities analyzed.

While South Florida residents may still love their coastal escapes, Tampa’s blend of sunshine, safety, and serenity makes it America’s new go-to city for true relaxation.
