South Florida is gearing up for a chilly weekend, with the coldest air in nearly two years expected to settle in by Saturday morning. Temperatures are already dropping, but the most significant plunge is yet to come.

Friday morning lows could dip into the 40s, with highs struggling to reach the mid-60s. By Saturday, Miami is forecasted to hit 47°F, the coldest since January 16, 2023, when it was 44°F. Fort Lauderdale may see 46°F, with a chance of breaking its recent low of 46°F earlier this month. Key West isn’t spared either, with a forecasted low of 54°F, the chilliest since January 2023.

Meteorologist Adam Berg notes this could be the coldest morning South Florida has experienced in two years. But residents won’t have to bundle up for long—by next week, temperatures are expected to rebound into the 80s with abundant sunshine.

So, keep that firewood handy for now, but rest assured, South Florida’s warm, sunny weather is just around the corner.
