Powerball Jackpot Climbs to $1.7 Billion After Another No-Win Drawing

The Powerball jackpot has surged once again after no ticket matched all six numbers in Monday night’s drawing, pushing the estimated grand prize to a staggering $1.7 billion.

The winning numbers drawn were 3, 18, 36, 41, and 54, with a red Powerball of 7. The Power Play multiplier was 2x. While no one claimed the top prize, several players still walked away with substantial winnings. Tickets matching five white balls won $1 million each, with winners reported in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.

Wednesday’s drawing will mark the 47th consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner, breaking the previous Powerball record of 42 drawings in a single jackpot cycle. The prolonged run has elevated the prize to the fourth-largest Powerball jackpot ever, and among the biggest in U.S. lottery history.

The last Powerball jackpot was won on September 6, when tickets in Missouri and Texas split a $1.787 billion prize — the second-largest in the game’s history. The all-time record remains a $2.04 billion jackpot won in California in 2022.

Players who win the jackpot will face a choice between a 30-year annuity valued at the full estimated amount or a lump-sum cash option of approximately $735.3 million, before taxes. Federal taxes — and state taxes in many jurisdictions — would significantly reduce the final take-home amount.

Powerball is played in 45 states, as well as Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets cost $2, with an optional $1 Power Play add-on. The odds of winning the jackpot remain long: 1 in 292.2 million.
