Palmetto Expressway Shut Down After Incident Leaves One Injured

A section of the Palmetto Expressway in Miami-Dade County was shut down Tuesday night after a serious incident left one person injured.

The eastbound lanes near Northwest 47th Avenue came to a standstill as Florida Highway Patrol officers and local police launched an investigation.

Traffic camera footage showed flashing lights and gridlock as authorities worked the scene. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue confirmed that one individual was transported from the site to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Details about the cause of the incident have not yet been released. Officials have not said whether any arrests were made or if criminal activity was involved.

The investigation is ongoing.
