A 27-year-old Florida woman was found dead aboard the Margaritaville at Sea Paradise cruise ship en route to the Bahamas on Monday. The vessel had departed Palm Beach the day before for a two-night cruise to Freeport.
Royal Bahamas Police responded to the ship around 5:30 p.m. after crew members found the passenger unresponsive in her cabin. CPR was performed, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cruise officials said the woman’s companion reported her death, believed to have occurred overnight. Authorities later discovered suspected cocaine and arrested a 32-year-old Florida man. His charges have not yet been disclosed.
The FBI is involved in the investigation, as is standard protocol for deaths aboard U.S.-linked cruise ships.
The woman’s identity has not been released, and the cause of death remains under investigation.
