The mother of 22-year-old Nahomi Valentina Cittadini, whose body was discovered by I-95 in northwest Miami-Dade over the weekend, is speaking out as police confirm the arrest of a person of interest. Lorent Pion, 29, was taken into custody after a police chase in Miramar on Saturday. He faces several charges related to the chase but has not been charged with Cittadini’s death.
Cittadini’s body was found in a grassy area near I-95, and police were called after reports of an argument in the area. Authorities have not released details on how she was killed, though Cittadini was found unclothed. Her mother, Maria Benitez, expressed her heartbreak, saying, “They never told me my daughter was found naked and thrown like an animal.”
Benitez shared that her daughter, who lived in Deerfield Beach, had been in a relationship with Pion but had broken up with him. Despite the breakup, Benitez claims Pion continued to stalk Cittadini. Pion is being questioned about his involvement but has not been charged in her death.
A GoFundMe has been set up for funeral expenses as Cittadini’s family seeks justice.
