Miami Man Arrested for Allegedly Groping 11-Year-Old Tourist in Hotel Pool

A 68-year-old Miami man has been arrested after allegedly groping an 11-year-old Swedish tourist while she was swimming in a Miami Beach hotel pool on Monday afternoon.

According to police, Osvaldo Diaz was charged with lewd and lascivious battery on a child and burglary with assault or battery. The incident occurred at a resort on Collins Avenue, where the victim and her family were staying.

The arrest report states that the girl was swimming with other guests when Diaz, a stranger to her, grabbed her buttocks underwater. Thinking it was accidental, she swam away — but Diaz allegedly followed her and touched her again, this time between the legs.

The girl immediately left the pool and alerted her family. Her father confronted Diaz, who then fled into a neighboring hotel. Security tracked him until police arrived and detained him.

Investigators confirmed Diaz was not a guest of the hotel and had entered the pool area without authorization. He denied any contact with the victim. A judge has ordered Diaz held without bond at the Miami-Dade County Jail.
