Major South Florida Drug Bust Nets 19 Arrests

A year-long investigation into drug trafficking in South Florida has led to 19 arrests and the seizure of drugs, weapons, vehicles, and nearly half a million dollars in cash.

Dubbed “Operation Trackside,” the investigation began with a tip in July 2024 and grew into a joint effort involving local, state, and federal agencies. On September 4, police executed 15 search warrants across Palm Beach and Broward counties, including one in Fort Lauderdale where SWAT officers stormed a home’s garage.

Authorities confiscated more than five kilograms of cocaine, fentanyl, and marijuana, along with six handguns, two semi-automatic rifles, 11 vehicles, a boat, and about $450,000 in cash.

“These are not street-level drug dealers,” said Boynton Beach Police Chief Joe DeGiulio. “These are high-level suppliers, and it takes significant time and effort to reach them.”

The investigation is ongoing, with officials expecting additional arrests. Agencies involved include the DEA, U.S. Marshals Service, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Florida Highway Patrol, Broward Sheriff’s Office, and Fort Lauderdale Police.
