Judge Denies “Stand Your Ground” Claim in Miami Mystery Jail Pregnancy Case

A Miami-Dade woman who made national headlines after becoming mysteriously pregnant while behind bars has been denied her request to drop a murder charge.

Daisy Link faces second-degree murder charges in the 2022 shooting death of her husband, Pedro Jimenez. She maintains she acted in self-defense after years of domestic abuse, filing a motion under Florida’s “stand your ground” law.

But Judge Lody Jean rejected the request, citing 911 calls, police bodycam footage, and, most significantly, Ring video from the night of the shooting. The footage shows Link walking away with a gun in hand, telling her husband, “I think I hit a major artery, you’ll be fine,” in what the judge described as a “calm and joking demeanor.”

Link’s attorney, Tony Thomas, argues she was trying to leave the abusive relationship and had even changed her locks. He plans to call her children as witnesses. A trial date has not yet been set.

The case gained national attention in 2024 when Link claimed she became pregnant in jail after semen was passed to her through an air vent inside a glove. She has since given birth, and her child is now with relatives while she remains jailed without bond. Miami-Dade Corrections has not commented on its investigation into the pregnancy.
