Miami Heat players got a surprising update on Jimmy Butler’s blockbuster trade from an unexpected source—superfan Shant Solmaz. During the team’s game against the Philadelphia Sixers, Solmaz, sitting behind the bench, broke the news that Butler was heading to the Golden State Warriors.
“When the crowd was silent, I yelled, ‘We won the trade, boys!’” Solmaz told NBC6. Tyler Herro and Kevin Love turned around, stunned, as he confirmed Butler’s move.
The trade sends Butler to Golden State in exchange for Andrew Wiggins, Dennis Schroder, Kyle Anderson, and draft picks. Miami receives Wiggins and Anderson, though Anderson’s future with the team remains uncertain. Meanwhile, Schroder moves to Utah, and Josh Richardson joins the Detroit Pistons. P.J. Tucker, recently traded to Utah, is also returning to Miami.
Solmaz called the moment “the best day of my life” and was thrilled his video went viral. While he acknowledges Butler’s contributions to Miami, he’s ultimately relieved about the trade. “I’m sad he’s leaving, but I’m glad he’s gone now,” he admitted.
