Former UFC heavyweight fighter Jairzinho Rozenstruik was arrested Monday in Pembroke Pines following a reported domestic battery incident, according to police.

Rozenstruik, 37, faces charges of battery, touch or strike, and false imprisonment, based on an arrest report released by Pembroke Pines Police.

Officers responded to a call reporting a suspicious incident near 9500 Pines Boulevard. The situation was determined to be a domestic dispute involving Rozenstruik and a female victim.

According to the report, the couple began arguing while driving back from a storage unit. During the argument, Rozenstruik allegedly slapped the victim’s hand multiple times, causing her to drop her phone. When the victim attempted to exit the vehicle, police say Rozenstruik grabbed her arm to prevent her from leaving.

The victim told officers she struck Rozenstruik several times in self-defense. The report also states that Rozenstruik became angry after she rejected his attempt to kiss her.

Police allege that Rozenstruik then bit the victim on her right bicep, leaving a visible bite mark. Officers observed redness on both forearms and a scratch or bruise beneath her right eye.

Rozenstruik remained in custody as of Wednesday night. No court date has yet been announced.

The case remains under investigation.
