In a record-breaking sting, Florida authorities arrested 48 individuals during a six-day operation targeting online child predators. Coordinated by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the sweep is the largest of its kind in the state. Attorney General James Uthmeier praised law enforcement for stopping these suspects before any children were harmed.

The suspects allegedly used platforms like Snapchat to lure children. Charges include child solicitation, human trafficking, transmission of harmful materials, and drug offenses. Some suspects even traveled from overseas to meet minors.

Florida is currently suing Snapchat for allegedly violating a 2024 child protection law. Uthmeier emphasized: “They came for our children. But law enforcement was waiting.”
