A Florida man accused of making violent threats against former President Donald Trump on social media was arrested with multiple firearms and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition, authorities said.
Kendall Aaron Todd, 42, was taken into custody Monday by St. Lucie County SWAT officers in Fort Pierce on a warrant for making written threats to kill or do bodily harm. Officials say Todd posted several threats on Facebook, including a statement that he wanted to kill Trump on live TV.
Authorities had been monitoring Todd for several days before his arrest. A search of his home uncovered two handguns and a stockpile of ammunition, raising further concerns about his intentions.
“We take all threats of violence extremely seriously,” said St. Lucie Sheriff Richard R. Del Toro Jr. “The discovery of firearms and ammunition in connection with threats against President Trump is deeply concerning. Thanks to the swift action of our SWAT team and cooperation with the U.S. Secret Service, we acted quickly to ensure public safety.”
Todd was booked into jail with a bond set at $500,000.
