A Florida man was arrested Sunday after an Amber Alert was issued for his 4-year-old daughter, Seraphina Gingles, and her mother, Mary Gingles, in Tamarac.
Nathan Gingles, 43, was charged with violating a no-contact injunction involving Mary and their child. Deputies found Seraphina safe, but Mary, 34, was discovered dead from a gunshot wound at her home.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) reported that the case began on Plum Bay Parkway, where deputies responded to a shooting. Upon arrival, they found a man, identified by family as Andrew Ferrin, fatally shot. A relative of Ferrin said a distressed woman had knocked on doors in the neighborhood before the tragedy.
As the investigation unfolded, authorities learned that Seraphina had been taken from the home where Ferrin was killed. Nathan Gingles was believed to be driving a silver 2016 BMW X3 with a Texas tag.
Later that day, detectives located Nathan and Seraphina at a Walmart in North Lauderdale. While Nathan has been arrested for violating the court order, he has not been charged with the deaths of Mary or Ferrin. Court records show the couple was in the process of divorcing.
BSO has not disclosed the relationship between Ferrin and the victims as investigations continue.
