Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) and federal authorities have arrested suspected members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua in Tallahassee. The operation, conducted with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), targeted individuals accused of weapon smuggling, gang affiliation, outstanding warrants, and illegal entry into the U.S.

Tren de Aragua, originally formed in a Venezuelan prison, has expanded across the U.S. and Latin America, engaging in violent crimes such as murder, drug and human trafficking, extortion, and sex crimes.

On Sunday, FHP also assisted federal authorities in immigration enforcement efforts in Fort Myers. Meanwhile, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced an agreement with the Department of Homeland Security, enabling FHP to enforce immigration laws. DeSantis continues to push for stricter immigration measures, though state lawmakers have resisted some of his proposals.
