Five Detained After Florida Tourist Killed in Old San Juan Shooting

Puerto Rico police have taken five people into custody following the fatal shooting of a Florida tourist in Old San Juan early Tuesday morning, an incident captured on disturbing video.

According to the San Juan Police Department, the violence began with a fight involving several individuals outside the bar Monostereo on San Sebastián Street around 12:41 a.m. The confrontation escalated and spilled onto Del Mercado Street, where at least one person opened fire.

The victim, identified as 40-year-old Nathan Joel Castro, was struck by gunfire and pronounced dead at the scene. Video footage circulating online appears to show four men engaged in a tense exchange before shots are fired. Castro collapses, while the others briefly approach him before fleeing.

Authorities confirmed that five individuals are currently in custody and that a vehicle believed to be connected to the shooting has been seized as part of the investigation. Police have not yet announced charges or released further details about the suspects.

The case remains under active investigation as authorities work to determine what led to the altercation and who fired the fatal shots.
