Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas cruise ship returned to PortMiami Monday after a fight on board left several passengers injured.
In a statement, the cruise line confirmed that its medical team provided immediate care to the adults involved. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel also responded when the ship docked back in Miami.
“We notified local authorities and are working closely with them,” Royal Caribbean said, adding that the incident is under investigation.
The Wonder of the Seas had departed earlier that day for a weeklong cruise with stops in the Bahamas, but the altercation forced an unscheduled return. Royal Caribbean has not released further details about what caused the fight or the conditions of those injured.
The incident raises questions about passenger safety on major cruise lines, particularly as the industry continues to rebuild after the pandemic.
