Five suspects have been charged following a federal takedown of a major cocaine trafficking network operating out of a luxury Midtown Miami high-rise, prosecutors announced Monday.

“Operation Mousetrap” targeted an international pipeline moving drugs from Colombia through the Dominican Republic into South Florida. Investigators say the organization imported up to 1,700 kilograms of cocaine aboard high-end fishing vessels before distributing it locally.

A search warrant executed at the Midtown apartment uncovered approximately 536 kilograms of cocaine, 14 firearms including an unserialized AK-47, and roughly $3.1 million in cash. A prior vehicle stop had already yielded over $250,000 in concealed drug proceeds, and a separate maritime seizure netted more than 1,600 kilograms.

The five charged include Daniel “Mickey” Hernandez, identified as a key distributor, along with associates facing charges of conspiracy, distribution, weapons possession, and trafficking. Several co-conspirators, including the alleged operation leader and overseas suppliers, have already been charged separately.
