A deadly explosion on a boat at Lauderdale Marina in Fort Lauderdale on Monday evening left one person dead and several others injured. The blast occurred just before 6 p.m., prompting multiple 911 calls to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue. Firefighters arrived to find intense flames, which spread to a second boat.
Five people were rushed to local hospitals, three with traumatic injuries, while divers later recovered the body of a sixth victim from the water. Surveillance video captured the explosion and subsequent fire, with thick black smoke billowing into the sky.
The cause of the explosion remains under investigation, and further details have not been released. Authorities continue to probe the incident.
