LAUDERHILL, Fla. (WSVN) – A fiery incident in Lauderhill left residents shaken Monday morning after multiple cars erupted in flames overnight. The fire, which started at 6850 Landings Drive, quickly spread, damaging four cars and causing nearby homes to be affected by the intense heat.

Lauderhill Fire Rescue responded to the scene, confirming the fire was accidental. One car ignited, setting off a chain reaction that engulfed neighboring vehicles. The flames grew so intense they reached the second story of nearby homes.

One resident, who didn’t wish to be identified, shared her harrowing experience. “We woke up to explosions and fire outside,” she said, describing how both of her cars were destroyed. The heat from the fire was so severe that it melted her car door shut, trapping her and her cat inside. She couldn’t escape through the window either, as another car exploded nearby. Fortunately, first responders rescued them both.

Neighbor Alberta Johnson McBride witnessed the chaos and recalled seeing another neighbor’s door melted by the heat, forcing her to toss her cat over the balcony to escape. “It was really scary,” said McBride, who also rushed to move her own car away from the flames.

Ring camera footage captured the intense flames, which melted not only vehicles but also a neighbor’s doorbell and blinds. Residents expressed relief that no one was injured, though the damage was extensive. “I’m thankful to be alive,” one neighbor said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
