Broward Sheriff Fires 6 More Over Mishandled Tamarac Triple Murder

Six additional Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) employees have been fired for their mishandling of a February triple murder in Tamarac, bringing the total number of terminations to eight. Eleven others face suspension.

The investigation focused on the murders of Mary Gingles, her father David Ponzer, and neighbor Andrew Ferrin. Authorities say Mary’s estranged husband, Nathan Gingles, gunned them down despite her repeated calls to police and multiple restraining orders.

Sheriff Gregory Tony admitted his deputies failed Mary, citing ignored warnings and procedural mistakes. Particularly damning was a sergeant’s order for deputies to stage at a rally point rather than engage the active shooter — a violation of BSO’s policy.

Nathan Gingles was arrested and charged with three counts of first-degree murder, among other charges. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

While BSO’s union defends the deputies, victims’ families demand accountability and broader reform in handling domestic violence cases.
