Body Discovered in Fort Lauderdale’s New River Sparks Police Investigation

Fort Lauderdale police are investigating after a body was found floating in the New River on Thursday afternoon.

Officers responded around 3:15 p.m. to the 400 block of Southeast 3rd Avenue following reports of a body in the water. Upon arrival, they located the deceased individual in the river.

Authorities have not yet released the person’s identity, and the cause of death remains unknown. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details were immediately available.
