Black Bobby: Building Miami’s Hip-Hop Movement One Block Party at a Time

Black Bobby isn’t just hosting parties — he’s building a movement. A fixture in Miami’s hip-hop scene, the artist, organizer, and entrepreneur has become known for his high-energy Black Bobby’s Block Parties, spotlighting local talent and blending hip-hop with modern electronic sounds.

Raised between Washington, D.C., and classic Motown influences, Black Bobby’s musical roots run deep. After launching his independent label, Square Biz Entertainment, he set out to promote Miami artists while developing his own sound. The monthly Block Parties, often hosted at Sweat Records, feature live performances, DJs, and free merch — creating a community-driven platform for emerging talent.

Alongside the parties, Black Bobby released his second mixtape, Negro Dialect, a genre-blending project that moves beyond traditional ’90s hip-hop into electro, dubstep, and Southern dance influences. One standout track, “Major Blazer,” a rap rework of Major Lazer’s sound, gained traction with DJs across Miami, New York, and Washington, D.C.

Square Biz Entertainment has expanded rapidly, managing DJs, producers, and rappers while also branching into creative ventures like event promotion — and even plans for a Miami taco truck. Black Bobby’s live performances include appearances alongside AZ, Cormega, and N.O.R.E., as well as benefit concerts supporting Haiti, Chile, and Lupus awareness.

Educated at Tufts University and Harvard’s Kennedy School, Black Bobby brings a political mindset to music, viewing hip-hop as a campaign built on messaging, leadership, and service. That perspective fuels his tongue-in-cheek “President of Hip-Hop” campaign, inspired by mentorship from Definitive Jux CEO Amaechi Uzoigwe.

Grounded in Miami’s downtown culture, Black Bobby continues to merge activism, artistry, and entrepreneurship — proving his block parties are just the beginning.
