Bicyclist Dies After Being Struck by Car in Miami

A man in his 50s died early Tuesday morning from severe head injuries after being struck by a car while riding his bicycle in Miami. The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. near Southwest 27th Avenue and 22nd Street. According to police, the man was riding against traffic when he was hit by the vehicle.

Miami Fire Rescue responded to the scene and found the man in critical condition. He was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he later died, said Pete Sanchez, a spokesman for Miami Fire Rescue.

The driver of the car remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities, according to Miami Police spokesman Michael Vega. Road closures were briefly in place but have since been cleared.

Police have not yet released the identity of the victim, and the investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
