Antonelli Wins Thrilling Miami Grand Prix in Season-Defining Performance

Formula 1 returned to South Florida in spectacular fashion this past weekend, delivering one of the most exciting races of the season. Kimi Antonelli claimed his third consecutive victory of the year at the Miami Grand Prix, holding off McLaren’s Lando Norris in an eventful race at the Miami International Autodrome.

A dramatic start ensued when polesitter Antonelli found himself in a three-way battle alongside Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc. Verstappen suffered a spin shortly after and dropped down the order, while the lead changed hands numerous times throughout the 57-lap race.

The race almost didn’t happen as planned. Due to heavy rainstorms forecast for later in the day, organizers moved the start three hours earlier than originally scheduled — from 4:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. local time. The decision was made jointly by the FIA, Formula 1, and the Miami promoter to ensure the safest possible conditions for drivers, fans, and staff.

Separate crashes for Isack Hadjar and Pierre Gasly saw the Safety Car deployed in the opening laps, adding further drama to an already chaotic afternoon. Antonelli ultimately sealed the victory after executing a strong undercut strategy, though he admitted afterward that it was far from easy. Formula 1 now heads to Montreal for the Canadian Grand Prix later this month.
