A tragic Amber Alert unfolded in Tamarac when deputies discovered 34-year-old Mary Gingles shot to death and her 4-year-old daughter missing.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office later arrested 43-year-old Nathan Gingles, the child’s father, who had an injunction barring contact with both the mother and child. The girl was found unharmed at a Walmart in North Lauderdale.

The incident began on Plum Bay Parkway, where deputies responding to a shooting found another man, Andrew Ferrin, fatally wounded. A family member described Ferrin’s death as “unimaginable,” recalling how a woman knocked on his door shortly before the shooting.

Authorities have not yet revealed the relationship between Ferrin, the child, and her mother.

Court documents show Nathan and Mary were in the middle of a divorce. Although Nathan is charged with violating the injunction, he has not been charged in the killings of Mary or Ferrin. The investigation continues.
