Disney’s ABC network has indefinitely pulled Jimmy Kimmel Live! following backlash over comments the late-night host made about Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
During Monday’s monologue, Kimmel suggested accused shooter Tyler Robinson was aligned with former President Donald Trump’s MAGA movement. “We hit some new lows… the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them,” Kimmel said, before mocking Trump’s response to the tragedy.
His remarks sparked outrage, especially after Federal Communications Commission chair Brendan Carr warned he would consider action against Disney and ABC. Hours later, the network announced the show would be “pre-empted indefinitely.”
Kimmel, who has hosted the show since 2003, has frequently mixed comedy with political commentary. But critics accused him of crossing the line by politicizing Kirk’s murder. ABC has not said whether the suspension is temporary or permanent, leaving the future of the late-night program uncertain.
