YNW Melly Stays Behind Bars Until 2027 Murder Retrial

Rapper YNW Melly will remain in jail until his double murder retrial in January 2027, after a Broward County judge denied his bond request.

Attorneys for Melly — born Jamell Demons — spent four hours last week arguing he should be released, presenting a fully arranged home in Broward County with 24-hour security, no social media access, restricted movement, and round-the-clock supervision. The judge was unmoved.

Demons is charged with the 2018 shooting deaths of two fellow musicians, Christopher Thomas Jr. and Anthony Williams, in a case that shocked the rap world. He faces the death penalty if convicted at retrial.
