With Christmas approaching, shoppers are urged to double-check store hours before heading out for last-minute errands, as schedules vary widely by location and chain.

On Christmas Eve, many major retailers and grocery stores operate with reduced hours. Walmart will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., while Target plans to close at 7 p.m. Costco warehouses typically close earlier in the afternoon, with many shutting doors by 5 p.m. Publix, Winn-Dixie, Aldi, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, and Sedano’s will also be open on limited schedules.

Pharmacies such as CVS, Navarro, Walgreens, and convenience stores like 7-Eleven, Wawa, and Circle K will remain open on Christmas Eve, though hours may vary.

On Christmas Day, closures are far more widespread. Walmart, Target, Costco, Publix, Aldi, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, and most major retailers will be closed. Home Depot, Lowe’s, IKEA, Macy’s, Sam’s Club, and Sprouts will also shut their doors.

Some pharmacies will remain open on Christmas Day. Many CVS locations will operate, and Walgreens stores are expected to run on reduced hours, with 24-hour locations staying open. Convenience stores such as 7-Eleven will largely remain open.

Banks will be closed nationwide for the federal holiday, though ATMs and online services will remain available. Most shopping malls in South Florida will also be closed on Dec. 25.

Local transit in Miami-Dade and Broward counties will operate on Sunday schedules, while government offices, libraries, and courthouses will be closed.
