Tens of thousands across America took to the streets in “No Kings” demonstrations protesting President Donald Trump’s leadership, which critics say is edging toward authoritarianism. From Times Square to San Francisco’s Ocean Beach, over 2,600 rallies featured music, banners quoting the Constitution, and inflatable frog costumes symbolizing resistance.

The protests came amid a prolonged government shutdown and growing tensions between Trump and Congress. “We’re here because we love America,” Senator Bernie Sanders told the Washington crowd. “We the people will rule.”

Trump, at his Mar-a-Lago resort, dismissed the demonstrations, joking that he’s “not a king” before attending a $1 million-per-plate fundraiser. His campaign later mocked protesters with a video of Trump as a crowned monarch.

Republicans branded the events “Hate America rallies,” while House Speaker Mike Johnson accused participants of being “Marxists” and “antifa types.” Protesters responded with humor and defiance.

Democrats see the rallies as a turning point after months of division. “The worst thing Democrats could do right now is surrender,” said activist Ezra Levin. “This time, they’re showing some spine.”
