Manhunt in Miami: Convicted Killer Accidentally Released from Jail

Authorities are urgently searching for James Edward Daniels, 60, a convicted double murderer mistakenly freed from a Miami-Dade jail.

Daniels was serving life for the 2020 execution-style killings of Osmar Oliva and Johan Gonzalez Quesada, who were kidnapped, tortured, and shot in Opa-locka. Prosecutors said Daniels and accomplices also robbed them of drugs and jewelry. A third victim survived.

Despite his conviction, Daniels was erroneously released on Saturday after being transferred from federal to local custody. Miami-Dade Corrections admitted a “procedural error” led to the blunder.

“The top priority is his swift apprehension,” spokesperson Juan Diasgranados said, adding that an internal investigation is underway.

Daniels, known as “45,” is considered armed and dangerous. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office and federal partners are now leading the manhunt.

Anyone with information is urged to call authorities immediately.
