A semi-truck driver has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash on Florida’s Turnpike that left three people dead in Fort Pierce.

Authorities said Harjinger Singh, 28, attempted an illegal U-turn in a section of the Turnpike marked for official use only on August 12. A Chrysler Town & Country minivan struck the truck, leaving the vehicle crushed beneath the trailer.

Victims included a 30-year-old Florida City man who later died at the hospital, along with a 37-year-old woman from Pompano Beach and a 54-year-old man from Miami, both pronounced dead at the scene.

Singh fled to California the day after the crash but was arrested in Stockton on Saturday. Officials revealed Singh has been living illegally in the U.S. since 2018 despite obtaining a commercial driver’s license in California. He now faces vehicular homicide charges and immigration violations.
