Chris Martin took a lighthearted approach during Coldplay’s Saturday concert in Wisconsin, referencing a recent viral “kiss cam” moment that led to real-world consequences. The band’s first show since Wednesday’s Boston concert was marked by Martin’s cheeky introduction of the “kiss cam.”

“We’d like to say hello to some of you in the crowd,” Martin said as he explained they’d be using cameras to showcase fans on the big screen. “So please, if you haven’t done your makeup, do your makeup now,” he added, avoiding direct mention of the controversy.

That controversy began in Boston, when the camera focused on a man and a blonde woman mid-embrace. Both quickly ducked out of view. Martin joked from the stage, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”

The clip went viral, and online sleuths identified the man as Andy Byron, CEO of the data company Astronomer. Accusations of infidelity swirled, though neither NBC News nor other outlets have confirmed the woman’s identity or the allegations.

In the fallout, Byron was placed on leave and subsequently resigned. Astronomer acknowledged the incident’s impact in a Saturday statement, saying, “While awareness of our company may have changed overnight, our product and our work for our customers have not.”
