A 7-year-old child was rushed to the hospital after being attacked by two pit bulls in a Margate home Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The incident occurred at a residence on Northwest 56th Avenue in Lakeview Circle South. Responding officers and rescue crews found the injured child, who was airlifted to Broward General Hospital. Fortunately, the injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.
Police say the pit bulls belonged to a family member temporarily staying at the home. Authorities removed the dogs from the residence, and they are now in the custody of animal control.
Photos from the scene showed bloodied blankets, underscoring the severity of the attack.
Authorities have not said whether charges will be filed but continue to investigate.
