19-Year-Old Killed, Two Teens Injured in Liberty City Shooting

A 19-year-old man was killed and two 18-year-olds were injured in a shooting Monday evening in Liberty City, according to Miami Police.

Officers responded around 6:45 p.m. and found the 19-year-old suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead. Investigators believe he may have been one of the shooters involved in the exchange.

Two other teens, both 18, were shot in the leg and are expected to fully recover.

A neighborhood resident told NBC6 he was inside his home when he heard what sounded like rapid gunfire. “It was a lot of shots,” he said. “It sounded like machine guns, automatic.”

When he stepped outside, he saw a man lying in the street and immediately called 911.

Police have not confirmed how many people were firing weapons. A rifle was recovered at the scene, and detectives are still working to determine what led to the gunfire.

Residents expressed frustration over continued violence in the community. “Sad situation. Someone lost their loved one tonight,” the witness said. “We’ve got to stop the gun violence. This is something that probably could have been talked out.”

The investigation remains ongoing.
